Faith & Trust
Faith and Trust in God
Faith and trust in God begin with who God is, not with whether life unfolds as we hoped. Scripture teaches us to trust His character, rest in His promises, and depend upon His sovereign care when fear, suffering, weakness, or uncertainty make the way ahead difficult to understand.
These daily devotionals open God's Word so that our confidence rests where it belongs: not in ourselves, our circumstances, or the strength of our faith, but in the God who is faithful.

What Does It Mean to Have Faith and Trust in God?
Faith and trust in God mean relying upon Him because of who He is and what He has revealed in His Word. Biblical faith is not positive thinking, optimism about the future, confidence in ourselves, or certainty that God will give us the outcome we desire. Faith has an object. The Christian trusts the living God, whose wisdom is perfect, whose purposes are good, and whose promises cannot fail.
This confidence finds its surest foundation in Jesus Christ. We do not come to God on the strength of our performance, nor are we secure because our faith always feels strong. Christ is the faithful Savior who lived in perfect obedience, gave Himself for His people, and rose victorious over death. Faith receives what God has promised in Him and continues to trust when God's providence remains difficult to understand.
A believer may still know sorrow. Fear may still come. Questions may remain unanswered. Yet none of these things changes the character of the One upon whom faith rests.
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

What Does It Really Mean to Trust God?
Trusting God does not mean understanding everything He is doing. It means relying upon His character when His providence is difficult to understand.
Proverbs 3:5-6 calls us to trust the Lord with all our heart rather than lean upon our own understanding. Scripture does not tell us that our understanding is limitless. It directs us instead to the One whose wisdom is.
That changes the foundation beneath our feet. We do not need to know every outcome before we obey. We do not need every question answered before we believe God's promises. The meaning of trusting God begins with the character of the God in whom our trust is placed.

Trust God in What You Are Facing
Fear, suffering, weakness, and uncertainty often reveal how quickly our hearts look for something visible to hold onto. Scripture does not ask us to deny those struggles. It teaches us where to bring them.
These studies consider what God's Word says when fear rises, trials linger, and His purposes are difficult to understand.

When You Are Afraid
Fear can make what might happen feel more certain than what God has said. Scripture teaches us to bring our fear beneath the truth of God's presence, promises, and sovereign care.

What Does the Bible Teach About Faith?

What Is Faith? Understanding Hebrews 11:1
Biblical faith is not confidence in faith itself. It is confidence in God.
Hebrews 11 shows men and women living in light of promises they had not yet seen fulfilled. Their circumstances varied, their weaknesses were real, and their understanding was incomplete. What held them was not the strength of their personalities but the faithfulness of the One who had spoken.
Christian faith therefore rests upon God's revelation and ultimately upon Jesus Christ. Our study of what is faith explores Hebrews 11:1 and the biblical foundation for a faith that rests upon God's promises rather than our feelings.
What Is Faith?God’s Character
Why Can God Be Trusted?
God can be trusted because He is faithful, sovereign, wise, truthful, good, and unchanging. His character does not rise and fall with our circumstances. His rule is never threatened. His wisdom never fails. His promises never exceed His power to fulfill them.
James 1:17 describes the Father as the giver of every good gift, “with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” The James 1:17 meaning gives us something deeper than reassurance that God gives good things. It directs our attention to the unchanging God from whom every truly good gift comes.
Jacob discovered that uncertainty about tomorrow did not place him outside God's covenant care. The promise of Genesis 28:15 answers the question is God with me by directing us away from our circumstances and toward the God who promises His presence.
Jesus does the same when He points His disciples toward the Father's care for birds and lilies. When we wonder does God care, Christ directs us to a Father who already knows what His children need.

What Is Faith?Proverbs 3:5-6

Be Still and Trust GodRomans 8:28
God does not promise that everything His people experience will be good. He promises that nothing lies beyond His sovereign purpose and that He works all things for the ultimate good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28 MeaningMatthew 6:25-34
Jesus directs anxious hearts toward the Father's care. The God who feeds the birds and clothes the grass knows what His children need before they ask.
